Hey, this is my poetry blog 5 :) I figure late is better then never...
I have this book from FOREVER ago that is a lot of Robert Frost poems. I have a couple dog-eared pages, like The Road Less Travelled, and this poem. So I liked it when I was younger. I still think the message is really interesting. Everything fades. I still enjoy reading it. It has a great rhyme and rhythm and it is effective in getting the melancholy mood. But now, I'm slightly bored by it. It's very obvious and simple. But then again, there's nothing wrong with simple. It just seems more pretty then substance. Using leaves turning color to represent gold not staying seems very basic.
Also, I always think about The Outsiders when I read this poem now. "Stay golden, Ponyboy." And how hard he tried too.
Got it! It is better late than never! Plus, it's really about the practice. :)
ReplyDeleteFunny how age does that, isn't it! It seemed so profound in The Outsiders.
